The Pacific Steelers are an elite female hockey program based out of the Greater Vancouver area. Our goal is to assist female hockey players who are committed to developing to their fullest potential, by
providing them with top notch coaching and having them train with other similarly skilled and committed players.
Our players receive a tremendous amount of exposure to collegiate coaches, as the Steelers
program has been recognized by US college coaches as one of the top teams in Western Canada. We have developed close relationships with the majority of US college coaches and have been intimately involved in
the recruiting process with our past players developing expertise in the recruiting process.
As such,in addition to our on-ice program,
we also provide our players with extensive follow-up consulting services to help guide players through the college recruiting process and help them maximize their college scholarship options. We provide full college preparation including academic, financial aid advice/negotiation and counselling.
There are several key components to the Steelers Program:
1.
Richmond Steelers (Club Team) -- we have a Under-19 club team based in Richmond, B.C. that belong to BCAHA and plays togther during the season (September to March). Over the past few years, this team has been the most heavily scouted team in Western Canada attending the Findlay Tournament, Connecticut Polar Bear Tournament and Brampton Canadettes tournaments.
2.
Pacific Steelers (Tournament/Select Teams) - we form Under-19 tournament teams that compete in various high profile tournaments such as the North American Hockey Academy Tournament, and NASH SuperSeries tournaments. We select these teams on the basis of tryouts, and bring together the top players from British Columbia, Washington State, and Alberta. These teams are great opportunities for players outside the Greater Vancouver area who may play on boys teams, or weak club teams, to play on a girls teams with future National team caliber players.
A partial list of players that have participated on our select teams include: Alycia Matthews (Canadian U-22 Junior National Team), Carly Haggard (Canadian U-22 Junior National Team), Dana Pretty (Canadian U-22
Junior National team), and Brooke Whitney (US U-22 Junior National team).
3.
Specialty Camps/Clinics -- from time to time we hold various skills, preparation, and prospects camps to help develop and identify future college players. College coaches that have attended our camps in the past include: Harvard, Maine, Dartmouth, UNH, Niagara, Brown, Northeastern, Yale, Wayne State, Minnesota Twin Cities, Ohio State, Cornell, Wisconsin, St. Cloud State, St. Lawrence University, Princeton, Bemidji, and Providence College.
4. Spring Development Program -- we have a spring skills development program that runs from (April to June).
