September 5, 2004

Burlington, Vermon -- The Pacific Steelers competed at the North American Hockey Academy Tournament September 3 to 5, 2004 in Burlington, Vermont.

The tournament featured an unprecedented 67 US college coaches in attendance.

The Steelers impressed the college coaches with their talent, work ethic and power play, and finished their "Pool" and cross over games undefeated with a 2-0-2 record and advanced to the quarterfinals.

In the quarterfinals, the Steelers played a determined Michigan Honeybaked team. The Steelers jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals by Melissa Anderson, and Jenny Mahovolich, but were unable to preserve the lead, as Honeybaked scored three consecutive goals, to win the game 3-2.

Steelers co-coaches Tom Hengen and Jeff Eaton did a tremendous job in preparing the team which was comprised of top players from Alberta and British Columbia as selected by General Manager Alan Chim.

The Steelers will be entering a team for the 2005 North American Hockey Tournament, and will be holding open tryouts for the team in June, 2004.
