What specific events do you scout to locate prospective players for your college?
USA select camps, various Canadian select camps, Various
tournaments in the Toronto area, CT Polar Bear tnmt, USA Midget Nationals, HNIB,
Prep Christmas tnmts, minimum once a year to BC and Alberta, once a year to
Minnesota,
What development level/and or
league do you recommend to prospective college players?
The intermediate league in Ontario seems to be the strongest. It all depends though, on skill level of team and competitors. Play at the highest level you can.
What qualities do you look for in prospects during the recruiting process?
Grades. Test scores (SAT and ACT). Character. Skating ability, use of ice, fundamental skills, scoring ability, toughness, use of teammates.
What advice can you offer high school age hockey players that aspire to play at the college level?
Work on the fundamentals!!!! Skating, stick skills, passing, shooting. Too many of the kids we see are lacking in one or more of these areas.
What is the minimum SAT score and grade % a prospective player would need to attain in order to gain admission into your college?
Beacause we have a sliding scale this is difficult to answer. However, at least a 1000 SAT and a 85% US average, 75% Canadian for us to even look at them seriously. This is a bare minimum..
