NCAA Clearinghouse

What is the NCAA Initial-Eligibility Clearinghouse?

The NCAA Initial-Eligibility Clearinhouse was established to insure that all incoming freshmen meet NCAA eligibility requirements. If you intend to participate in Division I athletics as a freshman, you must register and be certified by the NCAA Initial-Eligibility Clearinghouse.

The NCAA eligibility requirements are met when the Core Course Requirements are satisfied. In Canada, these core curriculum requirements are satisfied differently in each Provin In British Columbia, if a student has obtained one of the following with an average of at least 60 to 65 percent or higher in all core-courses, she will be deemed to have satisfied the requirements:

(1)  Secondary School Graduation Dipolma (SSGD)
(2)  Adult Secondary School Graduation Dipoloma
(3)  Diplome de Find d’Etudes Secondaires

Core courses are defined as all courses that contain 75 percent instructional content in the following core-course areas:

a. English (grammer, vocab development, composition, literature, analytical reading or oral communication)
b. Math (algebra, geometry, trigonometry, statistics, calculus)
c. Social Science (history, social studies, economics, geography, psychology, sociology, government, political science and anthropology)
d. Natural or Physical Science (biology, chemistry, physics)
e. Foreign Language or Computer Science

Add the grades in all courses that have been identified to be considered core courses and calculate an average for those grades. It is not permissible to use an average for only the best 13 core courses.
