WWHL BC Breakers Edge Steelers

RICHMOND, B.C. -- The Pacific Steelers dropped their first regular season game this year, losing a tight 3-2 game to the Western Womens Hockey League (WWHL) BC Breakers, Captained by Team USA Olympian Cammi Granato.

The Steelers jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a goal by Melanie Jue, and held a 2-1 lead after the first period, with a goal by Carly Barker.

However, the Breakers' came back to tie the game, and score the go ahead goal with 6 minutes left in the third period for the win.

Steelers player Melissa Anderson played another strong game for the Steelers, collecting two assists. Anderson leads the Steelers in scoring this year with 3 goals and 5 assists in 3 regular season games.

Goaltender Jenny Lura also played a great game for the Steelers between the pipes.

"The Game was a true measurement for all our players" said Steelers Head Coach Owen Pighin, "It was a very fast paced game, great hockey from both teams."

The Pacific Steelers are a 19 and under elite female hockey team, with a primary focus on helping its players secure college hockey scholarships. The Steelers will be attending the Connecticut Polar Bear Tournament, and Brampton Canadettes tournament this season..
